Negotiated Procurement

A way to acquire a new system or components when the buying organization wants to make a rapid decision and requirements are known (e.g., making a bulk purchase of additional workstations or tablet computers that will be added to an existing network). Often a trusted consulting firm is engaged to solicit bids, negotiate with vendors, and make a recommendation for procurement. This approach can be a better fit than issuing a request for proposal when cost and time are leading issues.
